Hospitality Operations

 Course Objective

Hospitality Operations course provides candidates with the skills and knowledge to provide operational functions, such as front office services, housekeeping operations sales and marketing and event management, within an accommodation establishment to ensure the excellent delivery of services to guests.

Job Opportunities

After completion of the course in Hospitality Operations candidates are employed by hotel and other establishments in the hospitality sector. Some of the job titles held by candidates include Receptionist, Guest Service Officer, Room Attendant, Housekeeping Executive, Sales Executive, Marketing Executives and Hospitality Service Executives.

Unit Objective

1. Effective Communication Skills

On completion of the unit, candidate will be equipped with skills to communicate effectively handle both oral and written communicative skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in the workplace as well as social and cross-cultural settings.

2. Front Office Services

On completion of the unit, candidate should be able to handle the arrival and departure of guests, Familiarization of the guest with the room and amenities, perform cashiering functions, provide concierge services and handle special requests.

3. Service Quality

On completion of the unit, candidate should be able to cultivate customer rapport manage their needs and expectations and handle service recovery.

4. Hotel Management System

On completion of the unit candidate should be able to create reservations, maintain customer data base, update room and rate change and checkout guest using a property management system.

5. Hospitality Sales and Marketing

On completion of the unit, candidate should be able to conduct environmental scan of the hotel industry, identify market segments, conduct market survey and target customers for the development of a marketing plan as well as prepare and present a sales proposal and show facilities to potential guests.

6. Hospitality Events Management

On completion of this unit, candidate should be able to make a plan and organize an event or a function held in the hotel.

7. Housekeeping Services

On completion this unit, candidates should be able to service the guest rooms, perform night-turn down service and complete end of shift activities. Task masters under various sub-area of HR Department of a hotel.

8. Public Area Cleaning and Laundry Services

On completion of this unit, candidates should be able to service and inspect public areas, understand the types and usage of some common cleaning machines. Students should also understand the basic cleaning process in a laundry department and note security and safety concerns.

9. Employability Skills

A group of essential abilities that involve the development of a knowledge base, expertise level and mindset that is increasingly necessary for success in the modern workplace. Employability skills are typically considered essential qualifications for many job positions and hence have become necessary for an individual's employment success at just about any level within a business environment.

10. Internship

Industrial Training of three months duration, to have hands on experience in Hospitality in leading Five Star Hotels in Delhi and pan India. This exposure will equip them with practical skills to be a part of hotel industry.

Course/Programme Duration

The duration of the course/programme is one year


The minimum entry qualification for admission in Hospitality Operations course: 

Passed 12th class under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent with English as a subject.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Note: The candidate must have passed 10th class with English & Mathematics as a subject, with at least minimum passing marks in these subjects.
